Travel Grant

The Virginia Tech Office of Undergraduate Research encourages students to present their research at conferences. OUR travel support program will cover expenses related to presenting at a conference. This rolling review process is designed to assist undergraduate students who have had their research or creative scholarship accepted for presentation at a regional, national or international conference. This program will provide travel funding to students who, without this support, may not be able to attend a conference to present their work. Current undergraduates from any discipline are eligible to apply for travel support.

The office will match funds you secure from other sources (such as your research mentor, department, college, student organization, student government, etc.) up to $500 for domestic travel and $750 for international travel to support your travel, based on fund availability. Students must apply before they present at a conference. Please note that we are only able to fund one student per accepted presentation and students will only be eligible to receive travel support once per academic year. Also to receive reimbursement the student must attend and present at the conference.

As a condition of OUR support for conference travel you are required to present your research at one of the VT Undergraduate Research symposia held in the spring or summer of each year. To apply, please fill out the form below. For national travel please apply at least 2 weeks before the conference takes place and promptly submit receipts when you return. For international travel please apply 1 month before and register their international travel with the Global Education Office in their My Study Abroad account on the Terra Dotta online platform at least 30 days prior to departure. If needed contact the Global Education Office at VTGlobalSafety@vt.edu for assistance.
