EuroScholars is a prestigious study abroad program designed for talented and highly-motivated undergraduate students looking to participate in international research.Participants identify an on-going project and join a research team at one of the nine renowned European research universities which make up the EuroScholars Consortium.

Once accepted into a project, students work with their home and host universities to develop a "learning agreement" for their time abroad, which gives each student the opportunity to create a program that is tailored to their unique experience, interests, and degree requirements.

A US-China Collaboration on Bats as Model Organisms for Bioinspired Engineering is held at Shandong University in Shandong, China. The 10-week research program supports 5 students total, 3 graduate and 2 undergraduates, subject to availability of funds. The award covers travel, visa, and subsistence expenses as well as provide students with a $5,000 stipend. Email the Principal Investigator, Dr. Rolf Mueller, with questions.

The International Research Experience for Students (IRES) program is hosted by the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech in partnership with the University of Nottingham, U.K. and supports international research experiences for Virginia Tech engineering students.

The IRES program will provide eligible VT engineering students  with the unique opportunity to work on collaborative research. Students will investigate the critical research areas of next generation electrical power systems. This will involve developing environmentally-friendly transport systems and the human factors issues that accompany their use and adoption. Following the overseas experience, students will present their research findings at a student research symposium or professional conference.
