VA Engage Journal Call for Papers, Volume 6

The VA Engage Journal<http://scholarship.richmond.edu/vaej/> is now accepting submissions for its 6th volume, to be published in Winter 2018. Submission deadline: July 19, 2017.

Submissions should fit in one of the Journal's categories for submission<http://scholarship.richmond.edu/vaej/aimsandscope.html> and meet the criteria for the Journal<http://scholarship.richmond.edu/vaej/policies.html>:

  *   Research studies that report community-engaged and/or community relevant findings. (Ex. "Justice, Democratic Inclusion, and Empowered Governance in Richmond's Development Policy<http://scholarship.richmond.edu/vaej/vol4/iss1/1/>"; "Community-Campus Partnership Effectiveness for Nursing Faculty Curricula in Rural Virginia<http://scholarship.richmond.edu/vaej/vol3/iss1/2/>")

  *   Critical reflections on engagement, prompting new and challenging conversations about the practices of engagement through analysis of specific programs or personal experiences in light of scholarly perspectives. (Ex. "Invisible: My Experiences with the Undocumented and Abused<http://scholarship.richmond.edu/vaej/vol4/iss1/6/>"; "Meaningful International Service Learning Experiences: Looking at the Reciprocal Nature of Reflection and Group Connection"<http://scholarship.richmond.edu/vaej/vol3/iss1/3/>)

  *   Reviews of current literature and engagement practice, assessing literature or bodies of practice relevant to civic engagement(Ex. "Beyond the Big House: Making the Transition to Life After Prison<http://scholarship.richmond.edu/vaej/vol3/iss1/4/>"; "Right to Play and Right to Health: the Role of Sub-Saharan Sport for Development Programs in the HIV/AIDS Pandemic<http://scholarship.richmond.edu/vaej/vol4/iss1/5/>")

In addition to textual submissions, multi-media and artistic products that emerge from or reflect on engagement are encouraged; this might include photos, video, digital stories, etc.

Submission deadline for Volume 6: July 19, 2017.

Any undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full- or part-time at a two- or four-year college or university in Virginia is eligible to submit an article. Submissions with multiple authors are welcome. The VA Engage Journal is published once annually, and all submissions receive careful review and guidance from engaged faculty and staff.
